The Bay City 5th quarters are done for the year, and they were a great success! We had approximately 400 teens at each of the first two events and averaged about 300 teenagers per night for all five nights.
There is a definite hole in our community when it comes to activities in which our teenagers can be involved. As you have recognized this, you have come out in support of these 5th Quarters and helped this be bigger and better than ever. For this we thank you!
I cannot begin to thank every individual who was involved from setting up to cooking to chaperoning and cleaning up afterwards. We had so many adults and teens that helped with all that was necessary to make these events a reality. There was never a week when I was concerned with the amount of help that would be available as I knew that the Nichols St. church of Christ and the Bay City community would rise to meet the need to make this happen. So, thanks to all who volunteered selflessly to provide a place that was safe for teenagers to have some fun after the home football games.
I would like to mention a few businesses who helped sponsor these 5th quarters. Our appreciation goes out to them beyond their understanding. We had monetary donations from several individuals, but also from Farm Bureau and Bay City Electric. We had goods donated for the prizes from Klassy Kuties, GC Sports, Totally Tux, and Bay City Floral as well as several individuals. Shipley donuts and Dairy Queen and Glenn’s Bar B Q made significant donations to help us feed all these teens coming through. Doc Campbell helped us tremendously with our inflatables each week. Happy Radio and our two local newspapers – Matagorda Advocate and Bay City Tribune – helped us with notifying the community of what was happening. Bay City ISD police even helped with some of the security for the night. Last, but not least, so many of you spread the word about these events, and it seemed as though everyone I spoke with knew what was going on. This year’s fifth quarters would not have been possible without your help. Thank you so much!
We plan on doing this again next year, and we hope to continue our ability to grow. If you would like to help, please feel free to contact me regarding fifth quarters or anything else. It is my hope and prayer that the youth of our community can be shown the love of Christ, and I hope that they can change the direction of our society’s future because of that love. We must start somewhere. I think 5th Quarters are a great place to start.
Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Matagorda County for being a great support for this wonderful event! If you have any questions or would like to contact me please feel free to do so at email@example.com or at the church office at 979-245-1611. May God continue to bless you all!
